Habakkuk 1:12-2:1 “The Babylonians Are Coming”

In Habakkuk 1:12–2:1, the prophet receives devastating news: Babylon is coming. Staggered by the thought that God would use a nation more wicked than Judah to bring judgment, Habakkuk models how faith responds when life collapses. He prayerfully remembers who God is—eternal, holy, and personal—he wrestles honestly with the tension between God’s character and His plan, and finally he takes his stand to wait for God’s answer. This passage teaches us that when bad news comes, the faithful response is not denial or despair, but clinging to God’s character, bringing our questions to Him, and patiently waiting for His sovereign will to unfold.
